Darkwave is an Australian-owned and operated accounting firm providing services to clients in the Arts, Entertainment and Media Production Industries. Darkwave’s services include Bookkeeping & Taxation Compliance, through to Management Accounting and Business Consulting Services. Darkwave provides Film Accounting Services for QAPE and EMDG Application Preparation and Lodgement.

Darkwave works with some of the biggest names in music and entertainment, who trust the experience, credentials and people at Darkwave not only to simplify complex aspects of their finances but also to help them understand the finance, tax and monetary side of their business.

Meredith Fannin

Director

For over 20 years Meredith Fannin has been a fully qualified Chartered Accountant specialising in the Creative and Performing arts, Music, Film & TV, Media and Fashion industries.

Meredith, who also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and Master of Commerce, established Darkwave Consulting in 2006 with her business partner Andrew Elmore. She previously worked as an accountant and manager for a mid-tier accounting firm, gaining specialisations in accounting and tax for the Creative Industries, Business Structuring and Consolidations, International Tax, and Business Management. Over the 15 years since the establishment of Darkwave, the firm has grown from a small one-person office in Richmond to a multi-location business with staff assisting clients Australia-wide.

Meredith’s focus is on helping creative businesses grow their wealth in both a commercially successful and ethically responsible manner. Her firm has successfully mentored several staff members through the CA program and has been the long-term business accountant for internationally successful artists, performers and musicians.

Meredith has volunteered for multiple not-for-profit organisations, holding the position of Treasurer at Australian music youth organisation The Push between 2013 and 2019. She is often engaged as a commentator on accounting and tax-related matters in the creative industries.

Andrew Elmore

Director

Andrew Elmore has worked both in Public Practice and Private Industry since starting his career in 1998 and has been a Chartered Accountant since 2001. He established Darkwave Consulting in 2006 with Meredith Fannin.

Andrew’s early career was heavily focused in accounting across the Property, Hospitality and IT industries. Over time this has expanded into the creative fields working with Meredith at Darkwave to establish a broad range of specialisations across many business sectors. Andrew has a particular focus on improving internal business processes through the use of technology as the way forward for modern businesses to achieve their goals.

Having driven the early adoption of Xero within the Darkwave client family, Andrew has an unparalleled wealth of knowledge with the software that he is able to provide to those starting out with the software or wanting to improve their own knowledge.

Outside of work, you can usually find Andrew with friends catching up over a meal or watching Carlton at the MCG. His two daughters also keep him busy on weekends with various sporting and artistic pursuits around Melbourne.

Laura Caldwell

Manager

Laura is one of Darkwave’s managing accountants and holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from RMIT, as well as being a fully qualified Chartered Accountant. Having been with Darkwave for seven years, Laura’s speciality within the company lies in working closely with Darkwave’s Music and Film clients, not only with their annual tax return but also with the day-to-day running of their businesses throughout the year. Laura’s remit also includes Xero training sessions, BAS, management reports, and bookkeeping.

Laura has a strong focus on treating others with kindness and respect, to create a positive and welcoming environment at work. When she’s not at the office, she spends most of her time with her three dogs, as well as travelling and exploring new places.

Lucas Morrison

Accountant

Lucas is an accountant at Darkwave where he works closely with clients in the preparation of Entity and Individual returns, as well as Account management, Bookkeeping services, BAS preparation, Business Consulting, Tax Planning and Tax Advice. He has been with the business for over two years.

Lucas holds a Bachelor of Business (International Business) and is a provisional member of CAANZ. His values are based on the idea that anything done in life should be done with pride, and he strives to do his best in everything he does. When Lucas is not working, he enjoys spending time in nature, hiking, walking or riding his bike.

Fred Regester

Accountant

Fred is an accountant at Darkwave, specialising in tax compliance and business management within the music, sporting and film industries. He attended Maryborough Education Centre for his VCE and has a Commerce Degree with a Major in Accounting from Federation University in Ballarat.

Fred is most interested in report preparation to assist businesses in the decision-making process as well as helping clients through their quarterly and EOFY protocol.

The values that drive him are personal and professional growth, integrity, and authenticity.

Joshua Mountford

Accountant

Josh is an accountant at Darkwave who handles individual tax returns for PAYG and Sole Traders. He specialises in ABN and salary workers in the arts, music, film, sport and gaming industries, as well as working on tax returns that include property.

Josh is a graduate of Deakin University with a degree in Accounting and Criminology and is Xero advisory trained. In his spare time, he enjoys working on his car, playing basketball and footy, and gaming, as well as doing volunteer work with the homelessness charity Rosies. His values include hard work, growth, and honesty.

Georgia Hutton

Accountant

Georgia Hutton is an Accountant who focuses on Individual, Partnerships and Small Business tax returns, as well as Bookkeeping, BAS and monthly instalments at Darkwave. She’s previously undertaken an internship at Auckland Community Accounting, where she assisted not-for-profit organisations understand accounting standards and regulations, as well as training them in Bookkeeping and Xero. 

 

Outside of the industry, she has worked as a Teacher’s Aide and Tutor alongside children with disabilities to help inspire classroom participation and foster engagement, while catering for each student’s needs. She also enjoys almost anything active – from weightlifting to hiking, swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding – but wouldn’t say no to some downtime with a book or a paintbrush either.

Angelo Berro

Angelo Berro

Accountant

Angelo Berro is a Business Services Accountant at Darkwave, with a focus on Individual tax returns and BAS. He previously worked as a Data Analyst at IBISWorld and holds a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) from RMIT University.

Angelo still boasts links to RMIT, where he volunteers as the Volleyball Club President and focuses on improving student life. He also continues to play volleyball and runs a growing TikTok account where some of his volleyball videos have millions of views. In any other spare time, he also enjoys watching movies and playing games.

Melissa Langley

Administration

Melissa (Mel) is an Administrator at Darkwave. She has over 20 years experience working in and managing complex administration teams in scientific and financial environments. Mel has worked in all aspects of administration from reception and accounts payable/receivable to personal assistant duties and was an Admin Manager of 12 staff for several years.

The values that drive her are honesty, kindness, perfection, and loyalty. When she is not working, Melissa enjoys socialising and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys travelling, AFL, cooking, gardening, and reading – and also supports her local community by volunteering at her local Primary School and AFL Auskick.

Juliette McLean

Administration

Juliette works as an Administrator at Darkwave and is a first-year university student at Melbourne University studying Arts.

She is passionate about live music and bartends at live sports and music events. She also plays and coaches hockey.

Rebecca Stone

Administration

Rebecca Stone is Darkwave’s Office Administrator – meaning she’s the glue that holds the office together, looking after day-to-day admin and event planning, as well as liaising with clients, managing meetings and assisting with marketing. She has a Diploma in Events Management, Travel & Tourism, and has previously worked as a Travel Agent, and had admin roles with the likes of Mushroom Group and Frontier Touring. 

 

She still loves to see live music at festivals and exploring old and new venues, and if she’s not on the music scene you can find her drawing, painting, being creative, or simply just chilling in the sunshine with her dogs.
